Born in Springfield, he was raised in Longmeadow, attended St. Mark’s preparatory school, and graduated from Trinity College. As a young man, Scott served in the air force during the Korean War. Upon returning home, he joined his father’s real estate company and in 1964 with a fellow broker formed the partnership Stearns and Yerrall, Inc. Scott was a former President of the Board of the Wesson Memorial Hospital and served as a founding member of the Board of Directors of Reeds Landing Care Center. He held several appointed positions under former Governor Dukakis: as a member of the Advisory Council of the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, and on the Boards of the MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority) and the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority. In his other world, he treasured his summers on Nantucket Island.
