Salvatore J. Morassi, 92, passed away on May 7, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center. Born on August 24, 1928 in Springfield, MA, he was the son of the late John and Rose (DeChristoforo) Morassi.
He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was a member of the 1st Pilotless Bomber Squadron.
For many years, Salvatore had worked for Local Union 91 as an elevator constructor and retired in 1990 as a supervisor. In his spare time, he was a member of UNICO, Knights of Columbus and assisted the Agawam Lions Club at the Big E. He also enjoyed making wine and was an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast. Most of all, he will be remembered for how much he loved his family and friends.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his loving wife of 44 years, Marilyn (Newton) Morassi who passed away September, 2003; his daughter-in-law Christine Morassi; his brothers Michael, Edward and Alfonse Morassi and his sister Anna Krolicki.
To cherish his memory, Salvatore leaves his children Salvatore J. Morassi, Jr. and his wife Karen of Southwick, John S. Morassi and his wife Susan of Feeding Hills, Frank M. Morassi of Agawam and Rose Marie Morassi of Feeding Hills; his grandchildren Nicholas, Samuel and Joseph Morassi; his brother John Morassi, Jr and his wife Rosalie of Agawam; his sister-in-law Bruna Morassi as well as many nieces and nephews who knew him as their favorite “Uncle Sal”.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 4 – 8 PM at Colonial Forastiere Funeral & Cremation, 985 Main Street, Agawam. Funeral services for Salvatore will be held on Friday, May 14, 2021 beginning at 8:45 AM at the funeral home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Sacred Heart Parish, 1061 Springfield St, Feeding Hills, MA 01030. Burial will be in Springfield Street Cemetery, Feeding Hills.
