Obituary

EAST LONGMEADOW – Rita M. (Mascaro) Raimondi, 98, a 68 year resident of East Longmeadow, passed away on May 20, 2020. Born in Springfield, MA on May 2, 1922 to the late Nicholas and Mary (Fazio) Mascaro, she attended Holy Family Grammar School and graduated from Cathedral High School in the Class of 1939. In 1940, she graduated from Springfield Comptometer Business School. Rita was employed at Bliss Pharmacy in Longmeadow for 19 years and had also worked for JC Penney and Skipton Dairy. A longtime communicant of St. Michael’s Parish, she was a past member of the St. Michael’s Women’s Club. She was a member of American Ex-Prisoners of War as well as the D.A.V. Auxiliary Chapter # 68 of Springfield. Besides her parents, Rita was predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, Emil V. Raimondi, who passed away in January, 2007 and her brother Frank N. Mascaro, who passed away in 2003. To cherish her memory she leaves her children, Patricia and her husband, Colonel, Ret. USAF William Liquori of Yorktown, Virginia, Richard Raimondi and his wife Linda of Dover, NH and William Raimondi and his wife Robin of East Longmeadow; 5 grandchildren, Major General (USAF) William Liquori Jr., Lt. Colonel Michael J. Liquori (USAFR.), Nicholas Raimondi, Jennifer Raimondi and Lauren Raimondi as well as 7 great grandchildren. (TJ, Greg, Alexa, Kayla, Joey, Emily, & Frankie) The family would like to thank the staff at Chestnut Hill/Wingate Nursing Home in East Longmeadow for their extraordinary care during these difficult times. Currently, funeral services and committal services at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery will be private and have been entrusted to Forastiere Smith Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life for Rita will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in Rita’s memory may be made to St. Michael’s Church, 128 Maple Street, East Longmeadow, MA 01028.
