Obituary

Philip A. Yacovone, 85, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2022, in the presence of his children, his grandchildren, and his great grandchildren.
Philip was born in Springfield and spent his early years in Chicopee. At Chicopee High School, he excelled at baseball and basketball and was named to the Chicopee High School Hall of Fame. He was a graduate of AIC in Springfield and was a pitcher on the AIC Yellow Jacket's baseball team. He enjoyed playing golf, skiing, boating, and traveling the world with the love of his life, Joan (Borgatti) Yacovone. Philip was a member of the Elmcrest Country Club in East Longmeadow and the Springfield Yacht Club in Chester, CT, and enjoyed navigating Long Island Sound with his soul and first mate, Joan. Philip and Joan spent their winters in Ft. Myers, FL, where they were members of the Estero Island Beach Club.
Philip was also an honorably discharged member of the U.S. Army Reserve. A resident of East Longmeadow since 1960, he built his family’s first home and also helped to design his future dream home. Philip was a parishioner of St. Michael’s Church.
Prior to his retirement, Philip was co-owner, along with his brother Stephen, of ACME Site Work in Springfield; a company founded by their father.
Philip was predeceased by his parents, Alexander “Sandy” and Theresa (Serafino) Yacovone and a brother and sister in law, Arthur and Dorothy Yacovone.
In addition to his wife of 64 years, Philip is survived by two sons, David Yacovone of Springfield and Michael Yacovone of Westerly, RI, and his long-time partner Danell Trinceri Tavella of East Longmeadow; a daughter Lynne Bowler and her husband Joseph of Holliston, MA; a brother, Stephen Yacovone and his wife Maureen, of East Longmeadow, MA; two grandchildren, Daniel Bowler and his wife Dr. Camille of Natick, MA and Alex Bowler and his wife Meaghan of Norfolk, MA and two great grandchildren, Owen and Adeline Bowler.
A Celebration of Life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday June 25, 2022, in St. Michael’s Church, 128 Maple St., East Longmeadow. There are no calling hours. Inurnment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Road, Springfield. Immediately following services, relatives and friends are invited to join Philip's family celebrate his life at La Cucina di Hampden House, 1 Allen Street, Hampden, MA.
