Nancy Marie Leary

Nancy M. Leary, 80, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 5, 2019. Born March 5, 1939 in Framingham, MA, she was the daughter to the late Charles and Marie (Murphy) Greene. She attended schools in Worcester and summers were spent on Cape Cod where her father owned several cottages. She graduated from Clark University and later A.I.C. where she received her Master’s Degree in teaching. Nancy taught in Western MA schools for 35 years, eventually retiring from South Middle School in Westfield. She enjoyed woodworking, basket making, gardening and knitting. She hand-made more than 3000 hats that were donated to the homeless and poor in the area. She was very fond of birds and made numerous bird houses over the years. Nancy leaves her daughters Susan Leary of Amherst, Elizabeth Leary and Karen Leary both of Bristol, CT; grandchildren Christine, Amanda, Noah and Hope; great-grandson Aiden; her little dog Annie; and her companion of 36 years Judy LeClerc. Calling hours for Nancy will be held from 9-11AM on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019 at Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main St., Agawam with a service beginning at 11AM.
