Obituary


Marian Young DeMayo, 94, died Wednesday, October 3rd at Governor’s Center in Westfield. She was born on February 25, 1924 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont and was shortly thereafter adopted by her loving parents, Jesse and Charles Young. She graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1942 and moved to Springfield, Ma. In 1943. Her first job in Springfield was working as secretary to Westinghouse’s head of purchasing. She later joined John Mann Agency as a secretary.
Marian is survived by three children: Cheryl Proctor (Brattleboro, Vermont), Craig Proctor (Suffield, Connecticut) and Pamela Leigh Thomas (Granby, Connecticut). She was preceded in death by her husband Frank DeMayo, who she was married to for 23 years and a grandson Shaun Allaire.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, Jennifer Comiskey, Benjamin Proctor, Adreana Duchesne, and Morgan White. She also leaves behind eight great grandchildren, Nathan Comiskey, Jacob Comiskey, Dominic Allaire, Alex Duchesne, Sydney Duchesne, Mason Duchesne, Nathaniel Proctor and Hudson Proctor.
In 1946 she married Everett Proctor and the coupled moved to Wilbraham in 1950. In 1968 Marian starting working at Wilbraham and Monson Academy as secretary to the Director of Admissions and then for the Headmaster. In 1971, she was promoted to counselor at the Academy and served as an International Student Advisor. In 1978, Marian married Frank DeMayo, a Certified Public Accountant from Manchester, Connecticut. She inherited 6 older step-children, all of whom enriched her life.
The service will be held Southwick Forastiere Funeral Home, 624 College Hwy, Southwick, MA on Saturday, October 6, 2018 beginning at 11 a.m. Family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on October 6, 2018.
