Married in 1960 to Eugene Patterson, the children of Margaret and Eugene are: Deborah Patterson (husband Emmett), Rebecca Lyke, Heather Patterson-Riggs (husband Bryan), Stephen Patterson (wife Rachel), and Amy Fetters (husband Glenn).
Margaret was blessed with several grandchildren: Emma and Isaac Burke (Deborah), Nicole Campion and Sarah Corbin (Rebecca), and Benjamin, Abigail, Harold Patterson (Stephen). She also now has a great granddaughter Alaina Corbin (Sarah). Margaret was predeceased by her husband and infant son Brian.
Margaret worked as a Medical Transcriptionist for several years at Saint Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY, until she graduated from Dutchess County Community College in 1980, where she then began to work as a Labor and Delivery nurse at Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY.
She continued her education and eventually because a nurse-midwife in 1994, working at the Vassar OB/GYN Clinic until retirement in 2007. After retirement, Margaret moved to Springfield, MA to be near her children and continued to work as a nurse-midwife, on a per diem basis, until the pandemic.
Margaret enjoyed many hobbies: knitting, quilting, sewing; as well as yoga and rowing crew on the Hudson River. She was also a very active volunteer – teaching ESL at the Grey House, bringing communion and library books to the homebound, cooking at the catholic churches in Springfield, and singing in the choir.
