Margaret E. Morris
August 23, 1922 ~ April 19, 2018 (age 95) 95 Years Old
Margaret E. (Matthews) Morris, 95, of Longmeadow, passed away peacefully at home on April 19th, 2018. Born in Easton, PA to the late Edward and Nellie (Ronald) Matthews, she received her Bachelor’s Degree from New Jersey College for Women, Rutgers University. Marge spent her career as a Librarian, working at several libraries including the New York Public Library in New York City, the Pennsbury Public School District Libraries, Pennsylvania, and the Oak Ridge Public Library, Tennessee. While employed at Oak Ridge Public Library, she met her future husband, Scott B. Morris, who was stationed there with the Army. Soon after, they married, settling in New Jersey and later Pennsylvania, before starting a family. In 1997 they moved to Longmeadow to be closer to family. Marge was very active over the years, enjoying golf, bridge, the Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle, and traveling the world. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Scott in 2010; her daughter, Patricia A. Morris in 1970 and by her son-in-law, Stephen Scharl in 2000. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Barbara Morris-Scharl of Wilbraham; two adored grandchildren, Jeffrey Scharl of Alfred, NY and Carolyn Scharl of Wilbraham. All services for the family will be private and entombment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum in Pennsylvania at a later date.
