Marcia Ann Barker

Marcia Ann Barker, 86, passed away peacefully September 11, 2018 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family. Marcia was born June 17, 1932 in Springfield, MA, the daughter of the late Homer F. and Winifred K. (Blair) Hanscom. She attended West Springfield schools and furthered her studies at Springfield Hospital School of Nursing, Nursing Assistant Training Program. Following her schooling, Marcia was employed as a Nursing Assistant with Baystate Medical Center for 28 years, retiring in 1994. Marcia is survived by her three children, William C. Barker, Jr., Scott E. Barker and his wife Marcia, and Cynthia A. Barker all of Agawam; three grandchildren Curt Barker and his fiancée Stephanie Wheeler and Laura Barker, all of Agawam, and Brett Barker of Weymouth; great-grandson Liam Barker of Agawam; and former daughter-in-law Sharon Barker of Agawam. Marcia is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by the love of her life, William C. Barker, Sr. in 2007; brother Homer Hanscom Jr.; sisters June Morgan, Beverly Malloy, Ruth Baran and Audrey Marx. The family would like to extend a special thanks to her nieces, caregiver Roberta Fronrath and the O’Hares for the gentle and loving care they all showed Marcia until her passing. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 17, 2018 beginning at 12PM from Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main St., Agawam with a funeral service at 1PM in St. David’s Episcopal Church, 699 Springfield St., with burial following in Springfield Street Cemetery, Springfield St., both in Feeding Hills. Marcia’s family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, September 17th from 10AM-12PM at the funeral home.
