Joseph J. Sotolotto

East Longmeadow- Joseph “Joe Glass” Sotolotto, 96, beloved husband of the late Mary (Cavicchio) Sotolotto passed away on February 23, 2020 at the JGS Lifecare facility.
He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, the son of the late Antonio and Pauline Sotolotto.
He was a graduate of Commerce High School in Springfield and later attended Boston University for one year.
A U.S. Army Veteran of WW II, he served as a tank driver with General Patton’s 103rd Tank Division.
Joseph started and operated his own business “Joe’s Glass Mill”, which he ran for over 35 years. He also worked as a mail handler at the US Postal Service for over 24 years.
During his younger days, he enjoyed taking the family on cross country trips to Las Vegas; a pursuit that he and his wife Mary continued for years after his boys grew up. A man who enjoyed working with kids, he also spent years as an assistant coach on his youngest son’s youth baseball team.
In addition to his wife and parents, Joseph was predeceased by two brothers, Carmino and Mario Sotolotto; and two sisters Mary Moran and Sandra Creamer. He is survived by his two sisters, Pauline Funai and Antoinette “Chickee” Mara.
He is also survived by his three sons: Peter (with whom he lived) of East Longmeadow; Thomas and his wife Becky of Agawam and their children, Hayley and Michael; and Paul and his wife Margaret of Enfield, and their children Katherine and David.
A calling hour period for family and friends will take place from 11:00 AM – 12:00 NOON on Friday, February 28th, 2020 at the Forastiere Smith Family Funeral Home (220 North Main St, East Longmeadow). A procession will form and proceed to the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam for military honors and burial.
