Inge S. Shuttleworth

Longmeadow – Inge (Schneider) Shuttleworth, 84, died recently at Baystate Medical Center.  Inge was born to the late Karl Wilhelm and Marie (Kaufmann) Schneider in 1934, in Stuttgart Germany.   Inge grew up and completed her education in Germany before moving to the United States in 1956.  Inge worked as a teller at Valley Bank & Trust Co. for several years, and later as bookkeeper for an orthopedic firm in Springfield.  Inge was an avid reader who enjoyed books from mysteries to old classics.  She was a talented knitter of scarves, hats and blankets for her family and others.  She was an excellent cook, and will be fondly remembered for her German specialties including home-made spätzle and many other delicious dishes.  For 61 years, Inge was a member of, and volunteer for, the Appalachian Mountain Club.  She was a member of the Longmeadow Maternal Association.  As a member of the Baystate Women’s Auxiliary, she volunteered as bookkeeper at the hospital’s Carryall gift shop.  Inge was also a member of the VASA order of America.  Inge leaves behind her beloved husband of over 58 years, John D. Shuttleworth; daughter, Ms. Ingrid K. Shuttleworth, Cambridge, MA; son, Edward K. Shuttleworth and his wife Suzanne, Hampden, MA; granddaughter, Tanya Larson and her husband Mike; and two great-grandchildren, Launa and Aiden.  Inge also leaves a sister, Mrs. Marianne Thomas; a niece and nephew; an aunt, Mrs. Ursala Kaufmann; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.  Family and friends are invited to attend Inge’s Memorial Service on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at 1:00 P.M., in The First Church of Christ, 763 Longmeadow St., Longmeadow, MA.
