Obituary

Agawam- Greg A. Barnhart, 50, died unexpectedly Friday June 14, 2019. Born October 4, 1968 at Westover Air Force Base, Chicopee, MA. A graduate of Cathedral High School in 1986. While enrolled in the law enforcement program at STCC, Greg worked as a Springfield Police Cadet. He was currently employed by Crown Linen Services as a Route Sales Representative in Windsor, CT. Greg’s customers were his extended family. Selfless, thoughtful, and dependable, Greg put others before himself. He was an avid hockey fan, from trying out for the 1988 US Olympic Hockey Team, working with the Phoenix Coyotes minor league affiliate the Springfield Falcons, coaching youth hockey and holding season tickets for the Springfield Thunderbirds, Greg lived for the love of the game. With his excellence in good sportsmanship, he was glad to see the underdog put their name on the Stanley Cup. He was the definition of a true gentleman, a rock for his family and he will be deeply missed. He leaves behind his best friend and loving wife of almost 30 years Cheryl (Waterhouse) of Agawam; his son Andrew and his fiancée Jenna Santana of Springfield; his daughter Brigette Menard and her husband Andrew of Union, CT; grandsons Tyler and Connor Menard; his mother JoAnn (Stahovich) Percy of Vermont; his father Robert Wardrop of Pennsylvania; mother-in-law Corrinne Waterhouse; sisters-in-law Diane Waterhouse Barbarisi, Lisa Waterhouse, Mary Ann Granger; brother-in-law Edward Waterhouse; nieces and nephews, especially the company of his nephew Brian who shared his love for hockey and BBQ ribs. Family and friends are invited to gather for calling hours 4-8pm, Thursday June 20, 2019 in the Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main Street, Agawam, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Greg’s name may be made to the T-Birds Foundation, 45 Bruce Landon Way, Springfield, MA 01103.
