East Longmeadow – Gerald L. Dillon, 92, passed away peacefully at the Jewish Nursing Home on Friday, May 11, 2018. He was born in Yonkers, NY to the late John and Geraldine (FitzGerald) Dillon. He graduated from White Plains High School in 1943 and went on to earn his Associate’s Degree from Pace College in 1947. He proudly served in the U. S. Navy. Jerry was a sales representative for Nutmeg Chemical Company for over 30 years retiring in 1990, and was a communicant and Eucharistic Minister of Holy Name Church in Springfield for many years. He enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, sailing and music. Besides spending time with his family and hearing about his grandchildren’s accomplishments, Jerry’s passion was singing. Music displayed his cheerful spirit, and he was a longtime member of the Pioneer Valley Chordsmen. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his loving wife, Anne (Connelly) Dillon; and his sister, Joan Riley. He leaves his 3 sons, Gerald C. Dillon of Mashpee, MA, William Dillon of Springfield, and John Dillon and his wife Mary Ellen also of Springfield; his 3 daughters, Elizabeth Skorupa and her husband James of Estero, FL, Catherine Dillon of Philadelphia, PA, and Anne Knox and her husband Terrance of Springfield; 9 grandchildren, Megan and her husband Patrick, Katherine and her husband Derek, Matthew, Elizabeth, Derek, Sean, Robin, Kevin, and Liam; 3 great-grandchildren, Avery, Bram, and Callum; 2 brothers, John Dillon and his wife Teresa of Mission Viejo, CA, and Richard Dillon of Island Heights, NJ. Jerry’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 15th from Forastiere Smith Funeral and Cremation, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow at 11AM followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Holy Name Church, Springfield at 12PM. Burial with military honors will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. A visiting hour will precede the funeral from 10 – 11AM.
