Gaetano Mancuso, 77, passed away on July 15, 2021 peacefully, surrounded by his family. Born on September 2, 1943 in Sarno, Italy, he was the son of the late Pietro and Immacolata (Sirica) Mancuso. In November, 1971, Gaetano and his wife Carmella immigrated to the United States to build a better life for themselves and their family. Gaetano had worked for Smith and Wesson Performance Center as a machine operator until his retirement.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Carmella (Vassallo) Mancuso of East Longmeadow, with whom he recently celebrated a 50th wedding anniversary; his son Peter Mancuso and his wife Aimee of East Longmeadow; his daughter Laura Santos and her husband John of East Longmeadow; his grandchildren Gaetano and Dominic Mancuso and Marco and Mario Santos; his brothers Paolo Mancuso and Giuseppe Mancuso of Italy; his brother-in-law Orazio Vassallo and his wife Tina, along with many nieces and nephews.
Gaetano took advantage of many of life’s offerings, especially gardening and wine making. He loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren in particular, who were held dear to his heart.
He will be fondly remembered for being full of life, his laughter and his humor.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 4 -7 PM at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021 beginning at 8:45 AM at the funeral home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Mount Carmel Church, 123 William St., Springfield. Committal services will follow at the Most Holy Redeemer Mausoleum, Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Tinkham Rd, Springfield.
