Eleanor Forni

Eleanor Florence (Ghedi) Forni, 93, died peacefully on May 24, 2023 with her loving family by her side. She was born on August 19, 1929 to the late Fred and Mary (Pradella) Ghedi. A first generation Italian immigrant, she grew up in West Springfield, and graduated WSHS. She worked at Mass Mutual, Dairy Queen, and at Zonin’s Italian Market for over 30 years. She married Alfred Forni in 1951, and together they raised a loving family. Eleanor and her family spent summers on Cape Cod for over 40 years. Her happiest moments were spending time with her children and grandchildren especially at sporting, musical and dance events. In addition she loved cooking her famous chicken cutlets and eggplant parmigiana for the family. Eleanor enjoyed watching Red Sox, Patriot or pro tennis matches in her spare time, that is when she wasn't playing dominoes, pitch, and card games with her family and many friends at the Agawam Senior Center. She will be missed by her daughter-in-law Sandi Forni, her daughter Karen Forni Austin and husband Alfred, her son Michael Forni and his wife Lisa, her five grandchildren Jessica Iorio (Marc), Steven Forni (Caroline), Matthew Austin, Andrew Austin (Sarah), Nicholas Forni, her four great-grandchildren, and many extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Alfred Forni, her son Ken Forni and her brother Charles Ghedi. Her family would like to thank New England Hospice for their amazing care and the staff at Chestnut Hill of East Longmeadow for their care of Eleanor the past few years. Family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday June 4, 2023 from 2pm – 5pm at Colonial Forastiere Funeral & Cremation, 985 Main St., Agawam MA. Her funeral is on Monday June 5, 2023 at 10am at St. John the Evangelist Church, 833 Main St., Agawam MA followed by burial at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Springfield.
