Edward Nicholson
April 20, 1924 ~ March 19, 2018 (age 93) 93 Years Old
Feeding Hills- Edward Nicholson, age 93, passed away on March 19, 2018. He was the devoted husband to the late Mary Victoria (Battista) Nicholson who predeceased him in 2006.
Born in Springfield to Greek immigrants he was a resident of Feeding Hills for over 50 years. A part of the greatest generation, Edward served his country during World War II as a Torpedo man’s Mate Second Class, in the United States Navy.
Edward retired as a machinist with Jet Tool, Agawam and previously worked as a machinist with Gilbert and Barco, West Springfield. In retirement, Edward worked as a courier for the Bank of Boston. He was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Springfield.
Besides his wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Nicholson, and a sister,Stacia Branchini.
Edward is survived by his 2 beloved daughters Jane A. Brooks (Chris) and Joyce E. Nicholson (Scott) all of Feeding Hills; 2 dear granddaughters, Molly and Kelly Brooks (Justin)); 4 adored great grandchildren, Samson, Scarlett, Noah and Jaxson; a special niece and nephew, Gail Branchini, Thomas Branchini along with extended family members.
Edward was a big man with a big heart. He left a lasting impression on everyone he met through his kindness and humor . He was a hard working family man who enjoyed hockey, baseball and football. The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Hall West with special thanks to Beth, Pam and Chevon for their compassionate care.
His calling hours will take place from 2:00PM – 5:00PM on Sunday (March 25th) in the Colonial Forastiere Family Funeral Home, 985 Main St., Agawam. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday (March 26th) in the St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 22 St. George Road, Springfield. Burial with military honors will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam.
