Springfield- David N. Potter, 67, died peacefully in his sleep on March 9, 2018, after a difficult battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Springfield, David was a lifelong resident and a 1968 graduate of Classical High School. He owned David Potter’s Dance Studio, located in Springfield and Enfield, Conn. and dedicated his life to teaching tap, jazz, ballet, and other types of dance to both children and adults for more than 50 years.
David was predeceased by his parents, Robert W. Potter Sr. and Mary L. (Tilli) Potter; and a brother Robert W. Potter Jr. He leaves a sister and brother-in-law, Marianne and John Depalma of Estero, Florida; a niece Mary (Potter) O’Neill and her husband Brian Paul; and a nephew Christopher Potter and his wife Meaghan.
A funeral home service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, March 16 in the Forastiere Smith Family Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow, with burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery, 1601 State St., Springfield to follow.
Calling hours will take place 4—8 pm on Thursday, March 15 in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the D’Amour Cancer Center, 3550 Main St., Springfield, MA 01107
