David Louis Gour

December 10, 1934 – October 15, 2021

David Louis Gour, 86, passed away October 15, 2021 at home in the loving arms of his family.  Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he has continued on his journey to be with his Lord.  Born and raised in Springfield, MA, he resided the past 45 years in East Longmeadow.  David was the son of the late Russell and Frances (Garde) Gour.  He is predeceased by his sisters Lucia Marcille and Florence McCarthy.  David leaves behind his wife and love of his life Carole (Landry) Gour after 64 years of marriage.  He leaves his children, Gina & Michael Shaw, Lucia & Domenic Cafarelli, Kristina & Steve Weibel, Danielle & Mark McCormack, Gregory & Meg Gour, Jeffrey & Jodi Gour, Stacey & James Norton.  His 13 grandchildren, CJ, Stephen, Thea, Jonathan, Stephanie, Lucas, Olivia, Gabrielle, Caleigh, Nicholas, Benjamin, Eliana, Aimee.  His 9 great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Chloe, Colin, Andrew, Kylie, Aubrey, Madelyn, Parker and Addison.  David was a life-long communicant of the Catholic Church.  He was always very generous and giving and supported countless charities.  David was a man of deep faith, integrity, love and compassion. He was a gentle soul and family man. One of his favorite pastimes was family holidays at Cape Cod. David served 2 years in the Army and was stationed in Germany.  He was in construction all his life and worked until he was 80 years old.  He was a construction superintendent and built many large projects in Western Mass including the Springfield Police Department, the S Presley Blake Law Center at WNEU, and three East Longmeadow public schools. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 23, 2021 at 9am in Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation, 220 N. Main St., East Longmeadow MA. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow at 10am at St. Michael’s Parish, 128 Maple St., East Longmeadow MA. Burial in Gate of Heaven Most Holy Redeemer Mausoleum, Springfield.  A wake will be held on Friday October 22, 2021 from 4-8pm in the funeral home.
