Beatrice Alves

West Springfield – Beatrice “Bea” Alves, 87, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 15, 2018. Born January 21, 1931 in Springfield, MA, she was a daughter of the late Clarence H. and Mary E. (Cignoni) Lake. She graduated from Technical High School in 1948 and the Dental Assistant Program at the former Springfield Trade School in 1949. Beatrice was employed at the Wesson Memorial Hospital, Hampden House Retirement Home and Twin Hills Country Club; she retired in 1993. Following retirement, she was a Senior Aid for the East Longmeadow Council on Aging. Bea enjoyed singing and directed a local chapter of the Sweet Adelines. She is survived by her loving daughters Patricia A. Alves of Shutesbury, MA, and Carol A. Kelliher, along with her partner Robert Baldor of Ludlow, MA; grandchildren Emily, Alan, Haily, Joshua; and nieces Janet and Mary. In addition to her parents, Bea was predeceased by her former husband Antonio Alves; and sisters Lorraine Williams and Eleanor Masciotra. There will be no public funeral services; however, the family would like to invite friends and family to gather from 4-7pm on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., East Longmeadow. A private burial will be held at the convenience of her family.
