Agnes Catherine Lightcap

Agnes C. (Carney) Lightcap, 95, passed away on Monday, October 14, 2019 in a local nursing home. Born in Springfield, Agnes was one of four children to her parents Michael and Catherine (Murphy) Carney. She graduated from Springfield schools, later resided in East Longmeadow for over twenty years before moving to Longmeadow in 1988. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Longmeadow and the church’s Guild, as well as, a member of Sacred Heart Church’s Alumni Association in Springfield. Agnes was a secretary for Gilbert & Barker in West Springfield for over twenty three years. She was a sweet and loving person who will be sadly missed. She was married to John F. Lightcap, who predeceased her in 1994. She leaves her family to cherish her memory including her step-sons, John Lightcap of New Haven CT, Thomas Lightcap of Feeding Hills MA and Kevin Lightcap of West Haven CT; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews: Maureen Berte, Mary Beth Carney, John Carney, Michael Carney, Don Carney, Debbie Carney Gallagher, Joan Carney and Patty Carney Miller; and many other nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Agnes was predeceased by her siblings: Michael Carney, Thomas Carney and Mary Gour.
Services for Agnes will begin with a visiting hour from 9:00-10:00am on Friday, October 25, 2019 at Forastiere Smith Funeral & Cremation on 220 North Main Street in East Longmeadow; followed by a 11:00am Liturgy of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church in Springfield and burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Springfield.
