Springfield - Lloyd Richard Bredenbeck, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 1st 2017, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, with his daughter Dawn and son Kevin by his side. Born October 25, 1932, Lloyd was the fourth of five children born to the late William F. and Hazel S. (Schaumberg) Bredenbeck in Cleveland Ohio. Lloyd was schooled by way of the Cuyahoga County School system of Ohio. He graduated January 1952 from the prestigious West Technical High School in industrial Cleveland. He continued education at Western New England College of Springfield, Massachusetts obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering in 1964. Lloyd began as a machinist-machinery assembler, then took on positions as a Foreman, Manager of Manufacturing Engineering, Service Manager for heavy machinery, Plant Manager, and retired as District Manager as an Application Engineer for the northeast region of the United States. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War from 1952 – 1956, serving as a Crew Chief on F-84s supporting the 58th Fighter Bomber Wing 49th, 58th and 474th Squadrons out of Taegu Korea and Itazuke Japan.  He was an avid golfer, car aficionado, Chicopee Auxiliary Police Officer, Boy Scout leader, stargazer, philosopher, and storyteller. He was a Mason, loved his country, a great friend to all that knew him, a wonderful husband, great father, foster parent, grandfather, great-grandfather and foremost an example for all. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 60 years, Alice M. (Fraser) Bredenbeck; his daughter, Dawn E. (Bredenbeck) Walczak and her husband Karl, granddaughters Meagan, Jordan and Rachel; his son, Kevin Lloyd and his wife Barb E. (Hodan) Bredenbeck, granddaughter Christie M. (Bredenbeck) Piquette and her husband Chris, his first great-grandchild due in January; and his #1 grandson Brian Lloyd Bredenbeck. Lloyd, in addition to his parents, was predeceased by his sisters, Geraldine (Bredenbeck) York and Alberta M. (Bredenbeck) Gill, and his brothers Harold and William. There will be no funeral or memorial services. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charity of your choice, in his name. A special thanks to all those at Mercy Hospital that took care of our father during his transition onto the next chapter. You are all wonderful and blessed for what you do on a daily basis. Thanks to Brenda, his home care nurse, and especially to Dr. Krishnan Babu and his staff. Thank you for being a friend to our father. He truly respected all you did for him. He will be greatly missed by all.
