Francesco Basile

East Longmeadow – Francesco “Frank” Basile, 87, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Springfield to the late Aniello and Belisa (Daniele) Basile. Frank enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served with peace keeping forces in post-war Germany. He joined the Springfield Police Department in 1953 and, retiring as a Captain, he thoroughly enjoyed the challenges and rewards of his forty two year career. Frank was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. He was a devoted family man who loved his home and his gardens. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 61 years, Savina (DeAngelis) Basile; his daughters, Belisa Basile, Deborah Basile and her husband Robert Mack, and Nicoletta Morin and her husband Gregory Morin all of East Longmeadow; his treasured grandchildren, Robert, Margaret, and Joseph Mack, Christopher, John, and Francesca Tarbell, and Edmund, Nicholas, and Benjamin Morin; his sisters, Mary Majka of Springfield, and Antonetta Marsian of East Longmeadow; his brother Savino Basile and his wife Marguerite of Wilbraham; his sisters-in-law, Nancy Capozza and Patti Cignoli; his brothers-in-law, Dr. Pasquale DeAngelis and his wife, Maria, Nicholas DeAngelis and his wife Cynthia, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased by his cherished son, Frank Jr, and his sister Pasqualina Anzalotti. Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 9th from 4-8PM at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow. Frank’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 10th from the funeral home at 8:30AM, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Springfield at 10AM.
