Charles R. Summers

The Reverend Charles R. Summers, 87, died February 8, 2018 at home after a brief illness. Born in Philadelphia on March 15, 1930, he graduated from Ursinus College in 1952; and earned graduate degrees at both the Philadelphia Divinity School and the University of Pennsylvania.  An Episcopal priest, he served many years in the Diocese of New Jersey at parishes in Plainfield, Pemberton, and Hammonton. More recently he served as Priest-in-Charge at St. Barnabas and All Saints in Springfield, MA. At the time of his death he was serving as Associate Priest at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Longmeadow, MA. Fr. Summers is survived by his daughter, Andrea Taupier of Longmeadow; and his significant other Kay Calkins, of Springfield; as well as 4 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.  Funeral Mass will be held Saturday February 17, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 335 Longmeadow Street, Longmeadow, MA .  There are no calling hours.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Andrew’s Memorial Fund, 335 Longmeadow Street, Longmeadow, MA 01106 or http://st-andrews-longmeadow.org/donate/.  Honoring the wishes of the family is the Forastiere Smith Family Funeral & Cremation, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow, MA.  Please visit www.forastiere.com to offer a personal condolence to the family.
